Backlit beauty

"You should never, never shoot into the sun. Always have the sun at your back.” At least that was the old photographers mantra. Even Art Morris, arguably America’s greatest bird photographer, says to keep your shadow pointed at your target. But all rules are meant to be broken.

True, it is a challenging situation to shoot into the sun, but backlit photos can be quite dramatic. Here are three recent examples.
