Jerry, of Rochester, MN, demonstrates our regular method of searching the bone yards. As a group we form a skirmish line and walk slowly through the bone yard checking each pit for birds. It's best to move slowly without 'sky-lining' yourself above the larger pits. Birds can be quite tame and, by slowly advancing, you can often approach them quite closely. When you find something really exciting, call it in over the now ubiquitous FMRS/GMRS radio and keep tabs on the bird without approaching it any closer––you don't want to be the one to chase away a real rarity––not with 40-50 vagrant starved birders on the island!
