12SemipalmatedPlover

An alert Semipalmated Plover keeps a watchful eye on a group of admiring birderrs. Note the worn plumage of this adult bird. Semipalmated Plovers have become more common on Gambell in recent years and we've watched them aggressively chase nearly every Common Ringed Plover that arrives on the island. This has resulted in the more shy ringed plovers abandoning potential nest sites.
