Even though they are the most common passerine on Gambell, Lapland Longspurs are fun to watch. During our stays in late May/early June the males are performing their 'skylarking' displays or chasing females about nearly 24 hours a day. This female was searching for seeds on the ground before she cooperatively hopped up on a rock to have her photo taken.
